Dr. Madge Smith
I am a 1976
graduate of Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine
and have been practicing Small Animal Medicine and Surgery
in Berne for over 30 years. I am the mother of four
daughters and grandmother to eight grandkids. The
thing I like most about working at Smith Veterinary Hospital
is the awesome team I work with and the stellar clients and
patients that come here. |

Dr. Larry Smith
I am Dr. Larry, the
“Horse Doctor”. I graduated with Dr. Madge from Purdue
University school of Veterinary Medicine in 1976, then came
to Berne to practice. My part is limited to horses. In my
spare time I am a pastor at St. George Episcopal Church and
raise and race Standardbred horses. I enjoy pheasant
hunting with my bird dogs and long time hunting buddy, “The
Sheriff”. |

Jenni Yager: Office
Manager
I have been working
here since the fall of 1979. I am the office manager
working to keep everything running smoothly. This is the
job I always wanted but never thought I’d be fortunate
enough to have. The best part about the job is the
wonderful team we work with and the clients who share the
care of their beloved pets with us. My two house cats
named Squid and Wiley have me very well trained. |

Dustin Arnold: RVT
I have been working
at Smith Veterinary Hospital since 1995 when I was 14 years
old. I am a 2000 graduate of Purdue University with a
degree in Veterinary Technology. I grew up on my
family’s hog/grain farm near Bluffton where I acquired my
passion for animals. I live near Bluffton, with my wife April.
We have three children. Rylee, Colton, and Braelynn.
We also share our home with a french mastiff named Kinze.
When I am not working I spend my free time farming, playing basketball, and spending time with
my family. |

Valerie Smith: Equine Manager
I have been working here at Smith
Veterinary Hospital since....well my entire life. I am Dr.
Madge and Dr. Larry's youngest daughter. I have grown up in
the practice but now have a new official title, equine
manager. My off the clock time is filled with my animal
related activities. I have many dogs...two German Shepherd
Dogs, Deuce and Pixie and my
childhood friend, Josh a Shetland Sheepdog. My dogs are
shown in both conformation and obedience as well as being my
constant companions. I also have a beloved Percheron mare
named Phin. I ride and drive my gentle giant and we are many
times accompanied by my cat, Balbosa. I also keep and raise
a small flock of pigeons. Overseeing all of us is the farm
goose, Gertrude. Obviously, I have a strong love of animals
and am very happy to be working here with you and your pets.
